The Needle & Thread Empowerment Project

Implemented by Al-Safina Organization for Culture, Arts, and Psychological Support, the Needle and Thread Project targeted the villages of Balansoura and Sultan Hassan—two rural communities with very limited services for women.

The project was designed to address two critical needs:

  • Economic Empowerment: Providing women with practical skills in sewing and tailoring, enabling them to create a source of sustainable income for themselves and their families.

  • Psychological Support: Offering safe spaces and group sessions that help women rebuild confidence, improve self-esteem, and share experiences in a supportive environment.

By combining economic skills with emotional resilience, the project not only helped women overcome immediate challenges but also laid the groundwork for long-term empowerment and community participation.
